As Denis Walter approaches an extraordinary 56 years in media and entertainment, he remains firmly at the top of his game.

His early career was centred on music, where he achieved remarkable success, earning multiple gold records, Command Performances, and countless television appearances.

Alongside his musical achievements, Denis nurtured a deep passion for news and radio. This led to nearly 16 years as the face of television news in regional Victoria, as well as roles with Nine News Melbourne.

In 1989, Denis embraced another of his lifelong ambitions – radio. The transition proved immediately successful, and today he remains a proud member of 3AW. After hosting Afternoons for 11 years, he has presented Melbourne Nights since 2020, connecting with audiences between 8pm and midnight.

His contributions have been widely recognised. In 2016, Denis was awarded the Order of Australia Medal and signed with Sony Music for the release of his album Yesterday Once More. He was further honoured in 2022 with the Tony Charlton Award for public service, and in 2025 received the inaugural Star of Victoria Award as part of the Victoria Day Awards, recognising his outstanding contribution to public life.

Denis continues to be Patron or Ambassador for around a dozen charitable organisations and community groups including Vision Australia, Neuroscience Foundation, Pat Cronin Foundation Dementia Australia, the Clarence Valley Orchestra and the MG Car Club Of Geelong.
